Walk Out Into Your Own Paradise

Community Involvement

1. Urban Forest Development

At Western Landscape Services we encourage you to celebrate the benefits of trees in our lives. By planting just a single tree or shrub, you can make a difference. Each tree will help to contribute to cleaner air, lower energy costs, create greater protection of our soil and water supplies, reduce noise levels, and establish a more serene and beautiful environment in which to live. Selected trees can be planted in many spaces. Where trees cannot be planted, we can render the condition for tree habitat. Removing a portion of asphalt or concrete to increase our urban forest canopy will mean a paradigm shift in our thinking. Biodiversity in an ecologically balanced urban setting will achieve ``Our Commitment to Mother Nature``. Plant a Tree! Plant lots of Trees!

2. Kingston Area School 'Plant a Tree Program'

We at Western Landscape Services believe that trees play an important role in our daily lives and new research proves that. Western Landscape Services helps Kingston and area students participate in Plant a Tree, Make our City Cool school program. Full Information on this Program.

3. United Nations Billion Tree Campaign

"Did you know that forests cover one third of the earth's land mass, performing vital functions around the world. In fact, 1.6 billion people depend on forests for their livelihoods. They play a key role in our battle against climate change. Forests feed our rivers and are essential to supplying the water for nearly 50% of our largest cities, including New York, Jakarta and Caracas. They help to regulate the often devastating impact of storms and floods. Global deforestation continues at an alarming rate -- 13 million hectares of forest are destroyed annually, equal to the size of Portugal." - Billion Tree Campaign Website

At a global level the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) launched a major worldwide tree planting campaign. Under the Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign, people, communities, businesses and industries, civil society organizations and governments are encouraged together to plant trees worldwide. Since 2007 Western Landscape Services has been proud participants of this campaign. Through community efforts such as Plant a Tree Make our City Cool (Pat Mocc) school we actively support the efforts of UNEP by being a Billion Tree Campaign Partner. We look forward to encouraging our communities to plant trees in this corner of the world for many more years to come.
